3rd Party Lab Tested
Mold-free coffee is coffee that has been independently tested and certified free of mold, mycotoxins, and ochratoxin A — harmful compounds that can develop during
growing, processing, or storage. At Lavender Coffee Boutique, every house blend is third-party tested to meet strict mold-free standards, then gently roasted
in small batches in Denver to preserve flavor without the bitterness or acidity of conventional roasting.
We believe your first sip of the day should be intentional — clean ingredients, transparent sourcing, and nothing you wouldn't want in your body.
Why Does Mold in Coffee Matter?
Most coffee drinkers don't realize that mold is a common issue in conventional coffee production. Mycotoxins — toxic compounds produced by mold — can develop at multiple stages: during growing in humid climates, during wet processing, and during storage or shipping.
Studies have found that a significant percentage of commercial coffee samples contain detectable levels of ochratoxin A (OTA), a mycotoxin linked to kidney stress and inflammation. While these levels are typically below regulatory thresholds, many health-conscious coffee drinkers prefer to avoid them entirely.
Choosing mold-free coffee means choosing transparency about what's in your cup. At Lavender, we test because we drink our own coffee every day — and we want to know exactly what we're putting in our bodies.
How Lavender Makes Mold-Free Coffee

Sourcing
We source beans through direct trade relationships with farms in Peru, Rwanda, Guatemala, and other high-quality producing regions. Direct trade gives us visibility into growing and processing conditions that commodity supply chains simply don't offer.

Testing
Every house blend is sent to Anresco Labs, a third-party lab for mycotoxin and mold testing before it's approved for roasting. We test for ochratoxin A, aflatoxins, and
general mold presence. Read the full story on our mold-free certification process here.

Gentle Roasting
We roast in small batches using a proprietary low-acid method that preserves the natural sweetness of the bean while reducing the harsh acids that cause stomach discomfort. The result: smooth, full-bodied coffee that's easier on your gut.

Freshness
Roasted, packed, and shipped — no warehouse sitting. Our bags reach you shortly after roasting, which means better flavor and lower risk of mold developing in storage.
Who Is Mold-Free Coffee For?
Mold-free coffee isn't just for people with mold sensitivity — though if you're one of the estimated 25% of the population with genetic susceptibility to mold illness, this matters a lot. It's for anyone who wants to know exactly what's in their daily cup:
- People with acid reflux, IBS, or sensitive stomachs looking for a gentler cup
- Health-conscious coffee drinkers who read labels and care about sourcing
- Anyone who has experienced jitters, brain fog, or stomach issues from conventional coffee
- Parents and wellness-minded households making intentional choices about what they consume
- Biohackers and functional health enthusiasts tracking what goes into their body
